Ize-Iyamu’s Trial for N700m Alleged Fraud to Resume July 7

The trial of the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the upcoming Gubernatorial election in Edo State, pastor Ize-Iyamu is billed to continue on July 7.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu is being tried alongside the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Dan Orbih, the present Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, former deputy governor of the state, Lucky Imasuen, and Efe Orimuoghae-Anthoni.

They were charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly receiving N700 million just before the 2015 general elections.

According to one of the charges against the accused, in March 2015,

they took possession of the sum of N700,000,000 without any contract award which sum you reasonably ought to have known form part of proceeds of an unlawful act, to wit; fraud and corruption”.

Ize-Iyamu and the rest of the accused persons were billed to appear before Justice M.G. Umar for the continuation of the their trial on Thursday, July 2, 2020.

The court however informed their counsels that the trial had been adjourned till July 7.
