2 Min Read

According to reports, NBA is planning on painting “Black Lives Matter” on the inside of both sidelines on every court used at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Amid the protests that have erupted in the US, Black Lives Matter slogans have been painted on streets across the United States. It started in Washington, D.C. when Mayor Muriel Bowser granted permission for the mural to be done just two blocks north of the White House.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Chris Paul, who’s also the president of the National Basketball Players Association, told Marc J. Spears that the union was working with the league to have players wear “personalized social justice, social cause or charity messages” on the backs of their jerseys.

Over the weekend, Shams Charania reported that the NBA and NBPA are considering allowing players to replace the last name on the back of their jersey with a statement that addresses social justice issues.

A number of players have already opted out of playing at Disney. Some have cited a desire to spend more time with their families while others have discussed their fear of the coronavirus.
