I Almost Quit Second Term Ambition – Governor Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has revealed that he nearly quit his plans to run for a second term in office.

He made the statement after he emerged as the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state held in Benin on Thursday.

Obaseki polled 1,952 votes of of 2,000 to become the flag bearer for the PDP in the state.

In his acceptance speech, the Governor promised not to disappoint the party as well as the people of Edo state.

He said while he believes he will remain Governor of the State for another four years, he nearly abandoned his second term ambition because of overbearing godfathers in the State.

“Today makes a defining moment for our dear state. With today’s election result, it is clear that there is no mountain. I thank my family for the encouragement.

“I salute all our party members for standing tall when it became necessary to do so.

I almost quit running for a second tenure all because of overbearing god-father, but the PDP cover provided us with the umbrella when it was heavily raining. Kenneth Imasuagbon and others made this possible.
