Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has said that the government of Ghana had no hand in the demolition of a part of Nigeria’s High Commission in Accra.

Onyeama stated this on Tuesday during the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.

He said that a non-state actor was responsible for the demolition, adding that the culprit acted without the knowledge of the Ghanaian government.

“Now, what we can say is that it is a non-state actor that was involved. It is not government and it is not government sanctioned,” the minister said.

However, Onyeama said that the Federal Government was keenly watching how the government of Ghana would respond to the demolition.

The Herald recalls that the minister had summoned Ms Iva Denoo, Chargè d’ Affaires of the High Commission of Ghana to Nigeria, over the matter.
