Residents of Onne, Eleme Local Government Area, Rivers State have been gripped by fear after the branch manager of a new generation bank in the area succumbed to COVID-19.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) was said to have immediately stepped in to seal the branch and commence testing of all the staff of the bank.
According to The Nation, the testing showed that most of the staff, including the gateman that usually had the first contact with customers, were positive.
They were said to have been immediately moved to COVID-19 isolation centre for observation and treatment.

The Herald recalls that Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike had consistently raised the alarm over the non-challant attitude of supermarkets and banks in the state to maintaining COVID-19 rules.
The governor had decried how the supermarkets and banks were allowing customers into their premises without compelling them to observe use of face masks, social distancing and other rules.
Wike threatened to seal off such erring businesses.
The state’s confirmed number of positive cases have been on a steady increase in recent times. The NCDC confirmed 103 on Tuesday alone.
