National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has disclosed that 900 repentant Boko Haram insurgents have been registered with the agency.
According to a statement obtained by The Cable, Aliyu Aziz, NIMC Director-General disclosed the agency was committed to providing accurate and authentic information regarding the repentant insurgents as part of efforts to combat insecurity in the nation.
He said: “The commission has the capacity to support the FG in the ongoing war against security challenges through its functional and world-class verification and authentication services residual in its modern and up-to-date database,”
Meanwhile, John Enenche, Coordinator of Defence Media Operations assured citizens that the agency would not hesitate to re-arrest any erring repentant Boko Haram member who attempts to renege on their pledge in giving up arms, The Cable reports.
Enenche revealed NIMC was among the government agencies involved in the Deradicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration process of ex-Boko Haram members. He further said the registration would help the agency in tracking their movement.
“The National Identity Management Commission is one of the agencies involved in the DRR process capturing of all repentant Boko Haram combatants on its data making it easy for them to be traced in any unfortunate incident,”

The Defence Media Coordinator disclosed that 603 repentant members of Boko Haram sect would be re-integrated into the society by the end of July after they complete their rehabilitation programme.
