JUST IN: EPL Teams To Display Black Lives Matter Badges On Matchday Shirts

2 Min Read

Premier League clubs have unanimously agreed to display a Black Lives Matter badge on matchday shirts as the league resumes on June 17 after a two-month hiatus caused by COVID-19.

To be displayed alongside the BLM badge is an NHS badge honouring healthcare workers that have fought endlessly to combat the deadly virus.

These were part of stage-3 return to play protocols approved by representatives of the 20 clubs in the English top-flight at a meeting on Thursday, football correspondent, David Ornstein, tweeted.

He wrote, “Breaking: Premier League matchday protocols have been approved by all 20 clubs. The vote at today’s shareholders meeting produced a unanimous result – there were said to be no complaints from anybody. #ProjectRestart is on course to go ahead as planned from June 17″

“Premier League clubs also agreed a #BlackLivesMatter badge will be displayed on the front of matchday shirts alongside an #NHS badge. For the 1st round of games, player names will be removed from the back of shirts & replaced with Black Lives Matter #ProjectRestart.”
