Rapper, Kodak Black has reportedly just had multiple weapons charges filed against him in Florida dismissed, The Blast reports
According to the report, on Friday afternoon, the felony charges of “possession of a firearm by a prohibited person” filed against the Florida rapper were dismissed following a deal worked out by his lawyer and the Florida State Attorney to have Kodak enter court-ordered drug treatment.
While discussing with the State Attorney regarding the judgement, Kodak’s lawyer Bradford Cohen revealed that, “At the end of the conversation, they were concerned that he couldn’t get into the court-ordered drug treatment with an open case and a max security prison.” He continued, “They agreed that the fair thing to do was to dismiss the case, so he can attend drug treatment and a lower security prison.”
Kodak was sentenced to three years and ten months imprisonment and has been incarcerated since November of 2019. Throughout his time in prison, the rapper claimed that there is a “big conspiracy” against him.
Despite being in prison—recently transferring to another one back in April—Kodak has still has some presence on social media, revealing that he planned to release an album at one point, as well as voicing his anger at the death of George Floyd and even offering to help in the fight for Black lives despite being “incarcerated.
Why does it take the death of George Floyd for people to recognize the inequality when it comes to treatment and reform??Fairness has been missing for decades. I want to help anyway I can even while incarcerated.
