Shehu Sani names Fulani elders that can end Boko Haram, banditry in Northern Nigeria

Senator Shehu Sani has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to constitute a committee of eminent Fulani sons to end terrorism and banditry in the North.

He stated this in a tweet on Friday.

The senator identified those to make up the committee as former Nigerian Ambassador to the USA, Prof. Jubril Aminu and former Yobe State Governor, Sen. Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

Others are former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, Senator for Adamawa North from May 1999 to May 2007, Prof. Iya Abubakar, and first Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Dr. Mahmud Tukur.

According to Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, the committee would engage all the stakeholders to find an amicable solution to the security crises.

He wrote, To end the Banditry & Herdsmen violence, President Buhari should delegate a committee of prominent pure Fulani leaders such as Prof Jubril Aminu, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, ex-Governor Sule Lamido, Prof Iya Abubakar,Dr. Mahmud Tukur & others; they should engage all stakeholders & end the attacks.”

This is coming few days after Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari announced the state would end negotiations with bandits fomenting trouble in the state.

He said the step was taken as the bandits did not honour agreements signed with his administration.
