2 Min Read

The Head Pastor of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim is reportedly still in police custody after failing to meet his bail requirements.

Head of Public Affairs of the CID DSP Juliana Obeng confirmed the news to Joy News on Wednesday May 20.

Earlier on, Daniel Obinim was reportedly arrested in his church on Thursday May 14, after the police received information that he was having a counseling session at the church.

According to Nana Yaw Kese from Peace FM, Daniel Obinim has been on the wanted list of the police for a while now but has been trying to evade arrest.

It was gathered that after inspecting the arrest warrant, the controversial Pastor reportedly told the police he needed a moment to change his cloth before leaving for the police station. He came out a few minutes later and claimed he couldn’t walk.

He was arrested for the publication of false news and forgery of a document contrary to sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and other offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) respectively.

He was subsequently arraigned before a Magistrate court in Accra and was granted a ¢100,000 bail with three sureties (one person to be justified).

Bishop Obinim is expected to appear in court on June 1 while investigations into other offences leveled against him continue.
