Kendall Jenner Set To Pay $90,000 In Fyre Festival Lawsuit

3 Min Read

Reality Tv star and model, Kendall Jenner has been ordered to pay a $90,000 settlement over the Instagram post she shared in 2017 promoting the controversial Fyre Festival.

The 24-year-old was among the entertainers sued in the Fyre Festival bankruptcy case to recover money for creditors, after she was paid a reported $250,000 (£203,000) to promote the festival in a now-deleted Instagram post.

The scandalous Bahamas-based festival became subject to controversy when it was accused of misleading ticket holders, having marketed itself as a luxury event complete with A-list performers and luxury accommodation.

In January 2017, Jenner shared a post on Instagram in which she promoted her “G.O.O.D Music Family”, the record label founded by her brother-in-law Kanye West, as the “first headliners” for Fyre Festival, which was due to take place in April and May that year.

Kendall had posted: “So hyped to announce my G.O.O.D Music Family as the first headliners for @fyrefestival. Use my promo code KJONFYRE for the next 24 hours to get on the list for the artists and talents afterparty on Fyre Cay.”

Kendall also reportedly received another $25,000 (£20,000) days after she posted it on her Instagram page.
The lawsuit claims that Kendall Jenner didn’t indicate she was paid for the Fyre Fest post, and that her mention of G.O.O.D Music Family ‘intentionally led certain members of the public and ticket purchasers to believe’ that her brother-in-law and G.O.O.D founder Kanye West would be performing at the festival.
The lawsuit also states: “In fact, Mr. West was never going to perform at the Festival. This conduct demonstrates a clear lack of good faith on Jenner’s part.”

In court documents filed on Tuesday 19 May, it states that the model has agreed to pay a $90,000 settlement over the case.

Jenner isn’t the only star being sued in the lawsuit,  Blink 182 are being sued for the return of $500,000 (£410,000), while Emily Ratajkowksi is being sued for the return of $300,000 (£244,000).
Fyre Festival promoter, Billy McFarland, was sentenced to six years in prison for the scandalous event in the Bahamas.
