The Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, has quit his previous role as Chair of Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development (SCDDD).
He established the centre in 2014 as a think-tank contributing to the sustenance of democracy and development through constructive advocacies in Nigeria.
Executive Director of the SCDDD, Amb Abdullahi A. Omaki disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

“Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to the President, has just conveyed in writing his immediate withdrawal as chairman of the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development (SCDDD).
“The decision to withdraw is based on his conviction that it is the best thing to do to avoid conflicts of interest,” the statement read in part.
According to the statement, the position relinquished by Gambari has since been assumed by Mallam Adibu Yazid, a Development Economist and Administrator.

The statement described Yazid as a core professional who has held several positions in the private and public sectors, including Secretary to the Government of the Head of Service of Kaduna State, before his retirement from public service.
