COVID-19: NMA Commends Health Workers In Kano

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has commended the commitment and selfless service of frontline health workers in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

The NMA National President, Dr Francis Faduyile, made the commendation during a solidarity visit to the state, on Wednesday in Kano.

Faduyile said the visit was aimed at boosting the morale of health workers in the campaign to stem further spread of the pandemic in the state.

He said: “The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is a collective responsibility, hence, all efforts needed to be put in place to ensure that the stated goals are achieved.

“We are in Kano to identify with our members, to show concern to the people of Kano, especially  now that COVID-19 has become an issue of great concern in the state.

 

“We need to show them that we are with them and boost the morale of our staff that are stretched beyond limit,” he said

Faduyile noted that Nigerian health workers were working assiduously to curb the spread of the pandemic in the country.

.

 

He advised health workers to observe safety protocols to stay safe and ensure proper utilisation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

 

The NMA President urged authorities to adopt proactive measures to boost the morale of health workers to facilitate successful campaign against the pandemic.

 

Earlier, the Chairman of the Ministerial Committee on COVID-19 to Kano, Dr sani Gwarzo said that the state had achieved a lot  in the fight against the coronavirus.

 

Gwarzo said that team had been working in collaboration with the state’s Taskforce on COVID-19 since its arrival in the state in the past weeks.

According to him, over 80 Rapid Response teams have been formulated to expand its outreach and enhance response services.

Gwarzo commended the health workers for their commitment and dedication, saying that the Federal Government had approved payment of allowances, life insurance scheme and other sound incentives to motivate the frontline health Workers.

 

He enjoined the residents to observe safety protocols, social distancing, use of face mask, regular hand washing, good  personal and environmental hygiene to contain spread of the disease.
