The lawmaker described Gambari as a global citizen whose scholarly work was recognised home and abroad.

Ajuloopin said with the appointment of Gambari and Mrs Faridah Dankaka as the Chairman, Federal Character Commission, the state had had a fair share in the government of Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration.

Gambari, a former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, was the Minister of External Affairs between 1984 and 1985 when Buhari was military head of state.

The 76-year-old is a professor of repute and a global citizen, who replaced the former Chief of Staff, late Abba Kyari who died on April 17.

Gambari served meritoriously in the United Nations as Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Africa between 1999 and 2005.
