A man in Ogun State, Olajide Asade, has died after a Mazda car ran into him as he was making video call with his girlfriend.

The incident occurred at Siun community, along Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway on Wednesday, Vanguard reported.

The 26-year-old victim was said to have boarded a commercial bus heading to Ajah, Lagos from Kuto Motor Park in Abeokuta but the vehicle developed a fault at Siun.

As the passengers alighted to allow the driver to examine the car, other passengers were said to have stayed by the roadside alert.

However, Asade, who was with his younger brother, Azeez, reportedly concentrated on his video call with his girlfriend, losing concentration in the process.

The Mazda car, Azeez reportedly said, was driving at normal speed when it ran his brother over.

Azeez disclosed that they were heading to Ajah to visit their mother and they left their home in Ijoga Orile in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State very early for the journey.

He disclosed that his elder brother started making the video call with his girlfriend from the Kuto Motor Park.

It was gathered that the driver of the Mazda car, Bolaji Balogun, has been detained by the police while Asade’s corpse has been deposited at a morgue.
