Lawal Izala had however told the court that he insulted President Buhari and the Governor out of anger because his family members had been killed by bandits who stole 15 of his cows.
Despite his pleas, the court found Izala guilty for both offenses and sentenced him to 6 months for the first charge and one year for the other.
He was however given an option of fine of N10,000 and N20,000 respectively instead of serving out the jail terms.
Good Samaritans in the state paid the fines and the man was subsequently released.
