Alhaji Abdulrahman Maigoro, Chairman, Keffi Local Government Council in Nasarawa State, has directed the residents of the area to use face masks in public as a measure against the spread of COVID-19 in state.

Maigoro gave the directive in a statement issued by Mr Shuaibu Muhammad, his media aide, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Keffi on Wednesday.
Maigoro said that the use of face masks would go a long way in containing the spread of the virus in the state and the country at large.
According to him, the order to use face mask is in line with the directive given by the state government as part of measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
” Keffi residents are advised to mandatorily use face masks effective from today being May 6, 2020.
“As anyone caught in public without the use of face mask will face the full wrath of the law.
” And this is also in our interest and for the overall development of the state and the country at large,” he said.
The council boss also urged the residents of the area to observe total compliance with the directives given by the government and health experts to fight COVID-19 in the country.
” Residents of Keffi should stay home, embrace social distancing and adhere strictly to other preventive measures against COVID-19 pandemic.
“They should also embrace regular washing of hands using running water, avoid touching of face and maintenance of personal hygiene.
“This is in order to curtail the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the country as well as to boost our health status,” he added.
He also urged the residents of the area and Nigerians to support government’s policies and programmes at all times in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
