Tom Cruise, NASA In Talks Over Film To Be Shot In Outer Space

2 Min Read

Hollywood actor, Tom Cruise is reportedly teaming up with NASA to work on a movie which will be shot in outer space.

NASA’s administrator, Jim Bridenstine made the announcement via a tweet on Tuesday.

He tweeted: “Nasa is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the Space Station!,

“We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make Nasa’s ambitious plans a reality.”

Bridenstine gave no further details but the tweet followed a report in Hollywood trade outlet Deadline that Cruise was working with Tesla and SpaceX entrepreneur Elon Musk to make what would be the first feature film to be shot in space.

Elon Musk has not officially confirmed the collaboration, but replied to Bridenstine, saying: “Should be a lot of fun!”

New York Times reports that NASA declined to provide additional details.

Matthew Rydin, the press secretary for Mr. Bridenstine, wrote in an email. “Not at this time. We will say more about the project at the appropriate time.”

This doesn’t come as a shock to fans because the Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise, 57, is renowned for his daredevil films and for doing his own stunts.

He flew fighter jets for the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick, and for the Mission Impossible films has hung off the side of a plane as it took off, and climbed the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai which is the tallest building in the world.
