“The second phase is carrying out an enlightenment campaign to encourage women on the need to use face masks and also on proper hygiene
“Since the government have made it a law for everyone to use face masks to protect themselves from Covid-19,’’ she said.
Akande appealed to mothers to always keep their surrounding clean, encourage their children on the need for regular handwashing with soap and water as well as using face mask when going out.
She urged women to see how they can manage the little resources at home.
“We are intense situation, a good mother should be able to manage the little a father can provide so that it can take them a long way,’’ she said.
She said the aim of the campaign was to complement government efforts in curtailing the spread of the virus.
The branch Chairman, Mr Muyideen Yusuf, disclosed that the mass distribution of the face masks was to support efforts of the state government in the fight against the spread of Coronavirus.
He said that the group is targeting to distribute 3,000 face masks to people across the state.
“Sensitising the public on the use of face masks is very important. Having understood that many people still find it difficult to properly use the face masks, it becomes necessary for NASFAT to sensitize them as we distribute it.”
On the distribution of food items, Yusuf said, it was part of NASFAT activities, especially during Ramadan.
