Malam Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to Gov. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu of Kebbi State on Media, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the items were presented to state Commissioner for Health and State Chairman, Task Force on COVID-19, Alhaji Jaafar Mohammed, by Dr Aliyu Mamman Na’uzo from NCDC.

Sarki said the items consist of hand covers, sodium hypochloride, surgical gloves, disposal gowns and masks.

Others include heavy duty gloves, goggles, hand sanitisers, safety boxes and bio-hazard bags.

“Na’uzo said that the gesture is part of intensified efforts to strengthen the response activities in states that have recorded confirmed cases.

“It is also in addition to the pre-positioned COVID-19 Starter Packs sent to support Kebbi State. The NCDC Strategic Stockpile is to support states in outbreak situation.

“The NCDC supply chain team will require the consumption data of all items, for effective monitoring and accountability.

“This is in order for the agency to suppress Kebbi State continuously during the outbreak,” he said.

Receiving the items, the state commissioner for health lauded the centre for the invaluable gesture.

Mohammed said that the items and the deployment of health professionals by the centre would foster a robust cooperation with the Kebbi state team in fighting the spread of COVID-19.

He assured that the items would be judiciously used in the most transparent and accountable manner.
