Edo State Has Spent Over N1bn Fighting COVID-19 – Obaseki

Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State has stated that more than N1 billion in fighting COVID-19 in the state.

Obaseki disclosed this during a live briefing by the state COVID-19 response team where he reiterated that his government was committed to ending the scourge of the virus in Edo state.

“The government of Edo State is leading this battle from the front. We have already spent over N1billion of our limited resources so far on this fight.

“We have constituted the Edo State Fund-Raising Committee which is made up of our sons and daughters who are captains of industries, religious leaders, traditional rulers to help us galvanise efforts at mobilizing resources to beef up the state government’s response to this pandemic. Obaseki said

Obaseki said the state decided to review the partial lockdown Imposed on Edo State after studying the latest results from the COVID-19 tests carried out on suspected carriers of the disease.

The Governor outlined the efforts of his administration in fighting the virus while appealing for donations from the public.

He also appealed to well to do citizens of the state to look out for the less fortunate people among them in order to cushion the effects of the virus.

Obaseki revealed that Edo state planned to carry out 1,000 tests and encouraged people to always wear face masks, wash their hands and maintain social distancing.
