Man Utd offer Ighalo £100k-a-week permanent deal, despite £300k-a-week wage in China

Odion Ighalo’s continued stay at Manchester United may be in jeopardy as the club has reportedly offered him a huge pay cut to make his loan deal permanent.

The 30-year-old Nigerian moved to United from the Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua in a deadline-day move in January.

Since his shock move, Ighalo has won over many skeptics and critics with his performance that has seen him grab 4 goals in 8 games.

And he has maintained his desire to stay on at his boyhood club, stating, “I’m on loan until the end of the season, which has not expired. Now it’s for us to finish the season very well, and if I do well, score more goals, if possible, then after the season we’ll see what’s on the table.

“But, for now, the season is still on. Even for me, as a person, you can’t start talking about the contract when you don’t know when the season is going to resume. So there’s no need to talk about that, it’s just finishing the season and then see how it goes.

“Of course, I’m enjoying my time there, so if something comes up, why not?”

However, reports in England say the Old Trafford side have indicated they would not be offering him anything over £100,000-a-week permanent deal.

Ighalo earned £300,000-a-week at Shenhua, who have expressed readiness to increase the wage in a bid to entice him back to China.

According to Daily Star, the club management have informed manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about their decision.

It remains unclear if the former Watford striker will sacrifice financial comfort to remain at his boyhood club.
