COVID-19: Ekiti State Government Fumigates Public Places

2 Min Read

Ekiti State Government has started fumigating all public places, including schools to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Gbenga Agbeyo, the State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, made this known while monitoring the exercise on Saturday in Ado Ekiti.

Agbeyo said that the state isolation centre at the Oba Adejuyigbe Hospital and its environs had also been disinfected to prevent caregivers and other health workers from contracting the disease.

According to him, other places earmarked for fumigation include the state secretariat complex, the House of Assembly, the new and old governor’s offices as well as media stations.

Also to be fumigated are Olaoluwa Grammar School, Christ Boys School, Mary Immaculate and Ado Community High schools as well as Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital and Okeyinmi Health Centre.

The commissioner said the state government had also asked the illegal occupants of the crowded Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti to dismantle their shanties and relocate to enable the government to fence the area.

He said that Gov. Kayode Fayemi has directed that the area be rid of illegal occupants.

Agbeyo remarked that the area had constituted a nuisance to the aesthetic beautification of the state capital.

The commissioner reminded the residents on the need to maintain social distancing, wash their hands regularly and obey all other directives by the government.
