2 Min Read
The Nigerian Army on Wednesday inaugurated 55 operational vehicles to enhance mobility and combat efficiency of its troops.
Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), said in Abuja that the inauguration of the 55 Buffalo 4 wheel; all-terrain vehicles was in line with his strategic directive for 2020.
Buratai, represented by Maj.-Gen. Joel Uniugbe, Chief of Logistics, Nigerian Army, said the directive was to sustain a responsive and professional army in the conduct of its constitutional duties.

He said one of the key tenets of the directive was ” a Sustained Logistics Support to all Nigerians Army Formations and Units Operations.”
“This model of vehicle is an asset and indeed force multiplier, particularly, in the North East terrain where the Armed Forces of Nigeria is conducting operations against Boko Haram criminals.
“It is, therefore, my belief that the vehicles will increase the mobility and combat efficiency of the Nigerian Army troops’ in the mission area,” he said.
The COAS said the Nigerian Army had witnessed unprecedented procurement of equipment and plants in the last four years.
Buratai said all formations and units across the country had continued to be issued with various types of vehicles for troops’ mobility, movement of logistics and combat manoeuvres.
He commended stakeholders for their support to the Nigerian Army in facilitating the procurement process of its logistics requirements.
The COAS pledged the commitment of the army to continue to defend Nigeria from external and internal threats and to provide aid to civil authority in national emergencies.
