A leading sports betting company in Nigeria Bet9ja has been called out on social media for failing to begin it’s own form of charity from home.
Bet9ja announced on Twitter that it was donating 200 million Naira to help Nigeria in the fight against the Coronavirus.
The betting company also said it was opening a public platform for donations from the public towards the fight against the disease.

Reacting to the press release however, a social media user, @rashieeee_, alleged that Bet9ja paid it’s junior staff half salaries for the month of March while making them work full shifts inspite of the Coronavirus infection in the country at the time.
She also alleged that there was no sports activity to bet on during the period the workers were made to work.
While Organisations and private individuals keep announcing donations, the government says it has not received a dime in donations from any persons or Organisations.
Subsequently the Federal Government has approached the Senate to approve a N500 billion loan request to enable combat the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
