Germany Mission has extended support to Nigeria by pledging a sum of €5.5m to the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund in the fight against the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
The office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Nigeria disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Thursday.
“Germany pledges €5.5m to the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund. It’s more critical than ever for vulnerable people to have access to clean water, food & shelter. This will enable partners to continue delivering life-saving aid amidst COVID-19.”

The World Health organization has expressed fear over the increasing number of coronavirus pandemic cases which is a few numbers to one million.
The Director General of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed heavy concern as several countries have now been hit by the pandemic along with an increasing number of death toll globally.
Ghebreyesus said:
“As we enter the fourth month since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, I’m deeply concerned about the rapid escalation and global spread of infection,” he said.
“Over the past five weeks, we have witnessed a near exponential growth in the number of new cases reaching almost every country, territory and area,”
“RhenumberbI number of deaths has more than doubled in the past week. In the next few days, we will reach 1 million confirmed cases and 50,000 deaths.”
