COVID-19: Lawmaker donates sanitizers, food items to Badagry residents

The lawmaker representing Badagry Federal Constituency, Mr Babatunde Hunpe, on Monday donates food items and sanitizers to over 5, 000 residents of the town.

Hunpe said that this would assist the people during the two weeks stay at home order by the Federal Government to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.

He said the food items and sanitizers were to complement what the Lagos State Government was doing for the residents to help them during the stay at home.

The lawmaker said that the items would be distributed by ward chairmen and coordinators in the three local councils of Badagry LG, Badagry West LCDA and Olorunda LCDA.

“We have called all the ward chairmen and coordinators to give our people the little items that we have for them.

“We want them to manage the little we can afford for them now; if you are saying you are waiting to do something big, you might end up doing nothing.

“I am very sure this will help them for some time before the end of the stay at home,” he said.

Hunpe urged the residents to abide by all the regulations put down by the World Health Organization and FG in order to get rid of the virus.

“The only way to curb this pandemic is to stay at home and follow the instructions by the government.

“Many countries that had gotten rid of COVID-19 had followed those instructions that we are following now, that is why I want my good people of Badagry to do likewise,” he said.

The lawmaker used the opportunity to tell the party leaders that the town hall meeting scheduled to hold on April 4 had been canceled until when everything stabilized.

Mr Adeolu Agoro, an APC chieftain, commended the lawmaker for contributing his widow’s mite to assist his constituents.

Agoro urged other elective office holders to emulate the gesture to help the residents survive the pandemic.
