Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to address Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast over the coronavirus pandemic.
He added that instead of showing leadership in the face of crisis by personally addressing his people, the president has been posting “pretty pictures”.
Fani-Kayode stated this while reacting to a photo of the president being briefed by the Health Minister, Dr. Osagie Ehanire and Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu.
Recall that NCDC said on Saturday night that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 97.
One of the confirmed cases is Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
The controversial ex-minister accused Buhari of not doing enough in responding to the crisis, saying his refusal to address Nigerians showed that he either had something to hide or did not care about the fate of his people.
Taking to Twitter, Fani-Kayode wrote, “Stop posting pretty pictures, show true leadership & ADDRESS your people.
“Prove you are well & that you are still in charge. That is the way to settle this matter.
“Why are you scared of a national broadcast? Do you have something to hide or is it just CONTEMPT for your people?”
