World Cup: Super Eagles end 16 year losing drought with win over Bosnia

1 Min Read

The Super Eagles have brought to an end a 16 year losing drought at the World Cup with last night’s win over Bosnia.

Osaze Odemwingie, FIFA’s man of the match opened the scoring tables with a 29th minute goal which was to be the only recorded goal of the tournament.

His goal was assisted by Emmanuel Emenike.

The referee of the match canceled a goal scored by Bosnia at the 21st minute, ruling it offside.

The victory has catapulted Nigeria to second place in Group F with 4 points, whereas Argentina leads the group with 6 points.

Nigeria is scheduled to face Argentina on Wednesday and need a point to guarantee moving to the second round.

Nigeria last won at the World Cup in 1998, when Victor Ikpeba scored a lone goal against Bulgaria in France.
