2 Min Read

A patient who has been suspected of carrying the deadly coronavirus disease in Nasarawa State has been placed under isolation at the specialist hospital in Lafia, the state capital.

In a report gathered by Channels Television, the Commissioner of Health in the state, Ahmad Yahaya, disclosed that the patient was quarantined on Wednesday after showing some symptoms related to coronavirus.

Yahaya said;

“He was admitted at the casualty unit of the specialist hospital after he came down with symptoms that are suggestive of the virus.

“We have a protocol checklist that we have developed. After we administered it to him, it was suggestive. This is why we moved him to the isolation unit,”

“We took his samples around 5:00pm yesterday to Abuja, hopefully before the end of Wednesday or tomorrow morning, the confirmation will be ready. Other contacts tracing are also on,” Yahaya added.

The Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari, has been moved to the isolation center in Gwagwalada, Abuja, to commence treatment.

Reports claim that the chief of staff arrived at the isolation center located at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, an outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory hours after he tested positive to coronavirus.

It was rumoured that one of the ventilators in the facility at Gwagwalada was moved to Aso Rock for the treatment of Buhari’s right hand man, however in a report gathered by Daily Sun, the news was false.

A source who spoke to Daily Sun said:

“I can confirm that as of this evening (Tuesday) no ventilator was moved. Both of them are intact. One is located at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital and the other one is at the Isolation centre. Both of them are there.”
