COVID-19: Dunamis Church Donates Kits to FCTA

4 Min Read

As part of its cooperate social responsibility, the Dunamis International Gospel Centre has donated assorted precautionary kits to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 in Abuja.

Presenting the kits to the FCT Minister of State, Senior Pastor, Paul Enenche, said the donation was in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ who made life meaningful for the common man.

The Senior Pastor accompanied by his wife, Dr Becky Enenche,  said that the devastation caused by the coronavirus should not be left for government alone, hence the intervention of the church.

Enenche said that the church had seen the efforts made by the government at all levels in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said that the church would not only pray against it but assist the government in whatever means to overcome it.

“We as a church came to see the FCT Minister of State, in the light of the current situation of the global pandemic of COVID-19.

“We have seen the devastation it has caused around the world and the emergency efforts put in place by the government.

“We want to be on the same page with the government in line with the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, who made life meaningful for the common man.

“We are not just going to pray and trust in God to save us, but we must come out to support the constituted authorities,” he said.

While receiving the safety kits on behalf of the FCT administration, FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, affirmed that Nigeria had overcome difficult situations in the past and Nigeria would overcome again.

Aliyu used the occasion to commend the Dunamis church for showing leadership, adding that the nation was passing through a difficult and extraordinary period that calls for concerted efforts of all to overcome.

“This is a trying period for all of us. However, in this trying moment, you have exhibited another leadership quality.

” We don’t have to wait for the government alone to do all the things required for us to curtail this disease.

“This is a line of your duty because I understand that both of you (Paul and Becky Enenche) are medical doctors.

” We have overcome before, and we shall overcome again. This is a trying period and we saw how even the developed countries shut down completely because they abide by the rules and policies of government”.

Aliyu, while thanking the church for the gesture, called on other religious and corporate bodies to Dunamis even as the government was doing everything possible to overcome the situation.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the safety kits donated include hand sanitisers, hand gloves and face masks.

NAN also reports that the church had also donated medical equipment and materials to Primary Care Centre, Lugbe in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

The items include hospital beds and mattresses, height measuring sticks, examination couch, diagnostics set, and accession sphygmomanometer.

Others are a standard unit of micro haematocrit centrifuge, a standard unit of gynae couch among others.
