The Chinese government has donated locally made medical kits to Nigerian healthcare workers.

Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, made this known via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, March 24.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) earlier said the country had recorded four new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

It said that brought the total number of infected persons in Nigeria to 40 as of 11:00pm on Monday.

NCDC confirmed this in a Monday night tweet. According to the agency, three of the new cases are in Lagos while the other one is in Abuja.

“Four new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria. 3 are in Lagos State and 1 in FCT.

“Two of these cases are returning travellers.

“As at 11:00pm on the 23rd of March, there are 40 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death recorded,” the agency said.

Meanwhile, The Herald reported that the federal government had closed down a Chinese restaurant in Lagos state for refusing to allow Nigerians eat in the restaurant.
