Oprah Winfrey denies being arrested for sex trafficking

2 Min Read

Billionaire media mogul, Oprah Winfrey says there is no truth behind claims that she was arrested for sex trafficking.

She stated this in a tweet on Wednesday morning, after rumour circulated that she was arrested on Tuesday night.

Rumour had circulated that Oprah’s Boca Raton, Florida home was arrested and she was picked up on sex trafficking charges.

The claims also had it that Hollywood actor, Tom Hanks and retired basketballer, Charles Barkley were arrested.

But said she was at home sanitising and self-distancing for coronavirus and has not been arrested as claimed.

The billionaire wrote, “Just got a phone call that my name is trending. And being trolled for some awful FAKE thing. It’s NOT TRUE. Haven’t been raided, or arrested. Just sanitising and self distancing with the rest of the world. Stay safe everybody.”

According to Heavy, “The conspiracy theory surrounding Oprah started with QAnon; the far-right group which centers on an anonymous individual known as “Q,” is known for starting wild conspiracy theories. And this story spread quickly.

“Even a bogus video was posted about her arrest, in which a “news reporter” claims her property was roped off and seized by authorities — “excavating her home” for the underground tunnels used for sex trafficking.”
