Mr Uche Nwaobi, Director, CsFirst Lagos Edu Consult/Convener, 21st Century Teachers’ Conference made this known in a statement in Lagos on Tuesday.

According to Nwaobi, Mr Babatunde Vaughan, a learning Delivery Specialist from Microsoft Nigeria, will deliver a lead paper at the conference.

He said that the conference with the theme: “21st Century Teachers’ International Conference’’ would hold on March 21, in Lagos.

Nwaobi noted that other speakers at the conference include: Teijas K.Y., the Business Development Lead, WAKELET UK, Nancy Ekpezu and others.

He said over 500 teachers, proprietors, school owners, lecturers and education consultants would participate in the conference powered by Microsoft Education and supported by CsFirst Lagos Edu Consult, an authorised Microsoft education partner.

He said the 21st century teachers’ International Conference, was a Microsoft Certified teachers’ training and workshop.

According to him, school administrators, lecturers, education consultants, university undergraduates, government education agencies, private and Lagos State would also be in attendance.

Nwaobi said educators from different schools would be impacted with 21st century education technology skills and world class knowledge that would transform them into change agents to deliver turn-key innovations in the education sector.

He said the participants would be equipped on the use of technology for teaching, learning, collaboration and management with the latest methods of education technology application in teaching and learning.

According to him, the conference will focus on embracing the newest Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies for connection based learning – connecting your classroom to any other classroom in the world.

“It will also train on virtual field trips, classroom flipping for collaborative learning and preparing future-ready students.

“Recent technological advances have affected many areas of our lives; the way we communicate, collaborate, learn and of course, teach.

“Along with that, those advances necessitated an expansion of our vocabulary, producing definitions such as digital natives, digital immigrants, global citizens and the 21st century teachers,” he said.

Nwaobi said all participants would be certified by Microsoft as Microsoft Innovative Educators.

According to him, an analogue teacher cannot teach a digital student.

“This implies that educators in Lagos state must develop their 21st Century teaching skills today, if they must fit into the 4th Industrial Revolutionised education system.

“A world that will be ruled by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced digital learning tools for 21st Century schools or be out of the teaching job by 2030.

Nwaobi said the training was carefully crafted to also equip teachers and educators, encourage collaboration among pupils and students and improve their creativity in and outside the confines of the classroom.

Mr Akpan Emmanuel, a Co-founder of the organisation, said the illiterates of 21st century would not be those who could not read and write but those who could not learn, unlearn and relearn.

“Teachers of the 21st century will not be mere teachers but forward-looking educators who are aware of the ever-changing paradigm in technology and are in tune with the future it brings to education.

“Hence, the compelling need for this conference,’’ he said.

He said the one-day conference would be completely hands-on, with practical sessions on Microsoft OneNote, Office 365, Teams, Forms and Onedrive.

Other sessions would include, Empatico, Flipgrid, Wakelet and other tools that would enable teaching and learning become innovative, fun and a creative process of preparing future-ready students.

The conference is powered by Microsoft Education and supported by CsFirst Lagos Edu Consult.
