Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna central, says northern elders failed to prevail on Governor Umar Ganduje not to dethrone Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir of Kano.

Sani explained that a traditional ruler from the southwest mobilized the leaders from the north to help Sanusi remain in the position of authority but they backed out at the last minute because of fear.

The senator on Friday, March 13, made this known through his official Twitter handle.

He tweeted: “The King of the South West tried hard to mobilize the leaders from the North to save the Emir;they backed out on d last minute, out of fear not to invite the anger & the wrath of the powers unto themselves. They allowed him to be pushed off d cliff & now helping with a wheelchair.”

Earlier, The Herald reported that Senator for Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Sen. Shehu Sani, has urged Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to thread softly in his dealing with the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi ll.

The Herald gathered  Senator Sani asked Governor Ganduje to forgive Emir Sanusi of any wrongdoing.  The senator via his verified Twitter account, @ShehuSani, urged governor to “forgive, forget and move on and let the Emir be.”

He reminded the governor that power is transient and as such, he may need the Emir someday.  The Emir is facing a fresh probe by Kano state public complaints and anti-corruption commission over allegation of N2.2 billion land scam.
