2 Min Read

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has adjourned the hearing of the application brought by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, which is seeking the review of the Supreme Court Judgement which sacked Emeka Ihedioha as governor and declared Hope Uzodinma winner of the 2019 election.

The hearing of the application, which was adjourned till Tuesday, March 3, 2020, by the constitution of seven justices led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad, was adjourned at the instance of the counsel to Ihedioha, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, who sought for time to reply the court proceedings served on him by the 1st and 2nd respondents,  governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressive Congress, APC, right there in the courtroom.

Agabi SAN said;

“My lords this matter was adjourned for hearing, but we were just served in the courtroom with a process from the 1st and 2nd Respondents/Appellants.

“If it is convenient to your lordships, permit us to come back tomorrow (Tuesday) so that we can look at this process”.

In response to the appellants’ application for adjournment, counsel to the respondents, Damian Dodo, SAN, stated that his clients were ready to proceed with the hearing of the matter, however, the processes were served on the appellants because, the appellants had served his clients court processes on Friday, and the only feasible working day to serve the response on the appellants was on Monday.

He said:

“The application was only served because we received their own process on Friday, so today is the earliest date for us to serve them.”

“We are ready to go on,” he added.
