Vanessa Bryant Files Lawsuit Against Helicopter Operator

2 Min Read

Vanessa Bryant has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the helicopter company that owned the aircraft that was carrying her husband, Kobe and 13-year-old daughter, Gigi including seven others who all perished in a crash last month.

According to TMZ, Island Express, which owned the helicopter, was only allowed to fly under visual flight rules and the conditions were not fit for flying.

The lawsuit claims the pilot failed to properly monitor and assess the weather prior to takeoff, failed to obtain proper weather data prior to the flight, failed to abort the flight when he knew of the cloudy condition, failed to maintain control of the helicopter and failed to avoid “natural obstacles” in the flight path.

The lawsuit also claimed the helicopter wasn’t safe to fly, but it was unclear what was unsafe about the aircraft.

Vanessa Bryant is seeking punitive damages, however Island Express has not commented on the lawsuit.

The suit seeks damages for loss of love, affection, care, society, service, comfort, support, right to support, companionship, solace or moral support and expectations of future support and counseling.
