An unfortunate sea lion became a spectacle in Burutu, a Delta community on Friday, as it was dragged through the streets after being caught by fishermen.
Many residents, who appeared to be seeing a sea lion for the first time, cheered as the animal was being dragged to an unknown destination, possibly to be slaughtered.
A video of the incident has been trending on social media.

The video is trending few weeks after a Kebbi community caught a hippopotamus.
Sea lions typically live for 20 – 30 years, weighing between 100kg and 300kg on the average.
Three species of sea lions have been classified as endangered.
