3 Min Read

The Plateau House of Assembly Committee on Works says it will liaise with relevant security agencies to mobilise more security personnel for contractors executing projects in the state.

The Committee Chairman, Mr  Usaini Amurudu, stated this on Thursday when he led members on an oversight visit to some ongoing road projects in the central zone of the state.
“We will liaise with the relevant security agencies so that they will deploy more security personnel to be on-site with the contractors.
“This will give the workers the confidence to concentrate on their work and deliver within the specified time,” Amurudu said.
Amurudu, who is representing Bokkos State Constituency at the assembly, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work at the projects visited.
He, however, called on the contractors to hasten and complete the work on schedule without compromising the quality.
He lauded Gov. Simon Lalong for releasing funds for execution of the projects including the ones he inherited from his predecessor.
According to the chairman,  doing so has further demonstrated the governor’s commitment to keeping to his campaign promises by ensuring that the people enjoy dividends of democracy.
Commissioner for Works, Mr Pam, also expressed satisfaction with the quality of work.
Botmang said that infrastructure development was a cardinal objective of Lalong led administration aimed at connecting the rural communities to enable rural dwellers to take their farm produce to the markets.
“This is why you can see the ongoing construction of these roads with the bridges to connect the rural communities.
“I can assure you that the governor is ready to finish up with the 22 road projects he has started as well as those he inherited from the last administration,” he said.
Mr Kayode Adeniyi, Contract Manager, Moulds Nigeria Ltd., said that the difficult terrain and delay in releasing funds for jobs completed were some of the challenges the company was facing.
Adeniyi also said that the workers were apprehensive due to the security situation in some of the areas.
He, however, said that in spite of the challenges, earth and concrete works were at an advanced level of completion in all sites.
Mould Nigeria Ltd. is handling Lankang-Dis-Sini 24 kilometres Road in Pankshin Local Government Area and  66 kilometres Kuba-Tetina-Daffo Road in Bokkos Local Government Area.
Mr Adeniyi Sanusi, Project Manager, Tilley Gyado Nigeria Ltd. the company constructing  Korot-Bakin Kogi- Kadunu-Gindiri road which is about 44 kilometres also briefed the committee on the progress of work.
Sanusi said that at the moment the firm was concentrating on finishing the three-span bridge in Gindiri as directed by the client.
