Apostle Johnson Suleman of the Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) has said that critics deliberately misconstrued Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s advice on cooking.
The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) as part of activities commemorating his 78th birthday commenced the sharing of 78 quotes on inspiration and advice.
Quote 19 read, “My sons, don’t marry a lady who cannot cook. She needs to know how to do chores and cook because you cannot afford to be eating out all the time.”
But many social media enthusiasts criticised the cleric, saying he objectified women as domestic helps.
However, many others, including celebrities such as Toke Makinwa, defended the cleric.
Weighing in on the controversy, Suleman attributed the criticisms directed at Adeboye to mischief.
The Edo-based cleric, who has described Adeboye as his spiritual father, stated this on Twitter.
He wrote: “Baba Adeboye never said men shouldn’t know how to cook.
“He said marry a lady who knows (how) to. What’s wrong in that?
“He has been happily married for over 50 years. Those talking are less than 50.
“Who do we listen to? By the way, we are responsible for what we say, not how you understand it.”
