Community Leader Urges Government to Prioritise Girl-child Education

3 Min Read

Mrs Elizabeth Okafor, a community leader in Aboatulu Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra, has urged all tiers of government to priorities girl-child education in the country.

The community leader said that a girl child who receives quality education would be good ambassadors anywhere they found themselves.

Okafor, an Octogenarian, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, on Tuesday in Awka.

The 92-year-old community leader said that training a girl-child would help in building a healthy nation where good morals would be practised.

“Education remains the greatest legacy any parent or guardian would give any child under their care, it is an effective way of securing the future of the girl-child.

“When a girl is well trained in the line of education and groomed well to be spiritually balanced that girl-child would train a nation also,” she said.

Okafor said that the place of a girl-child in the society cannot be overemphasised and appealed to leaders to take seriously the education and development of a girl-child.

She urged parents to redouble their efforts and re-strategise towards proper child upbringing especially girl-children because of their delicate nature so as to bring out the huge potentials God has deposited in them.

The octogenarian said that if a girl-child lacks good training and quality education, the whole society would be plunged into darkness.

“It is a woman that builds the nation and a woman who does not have any good character cannot do magic,” she said.

She said that a girl-child who has quality education would have the ability to decide what is right and what is wrong thereby charting a way forward for a better society.

Okafor appealed to mothers to always guide their girl-children in the way of the Lord, so as to be free from sin.

“Girl who is well-schooled would avoid acts capable of tarnishing her image as a responsible person and would lead an exemplary life to be emulated,” she said.
