2 Min Read

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has pledged to ensure speedy completion of the Wrestling Theater in Bayelsa, to further boost the development of sports in the country.

Dare stated this while briefing newsmen at the sideline of the Gov. Seriake Dickson Restoration Cup final.

He commended the quality of work at the facility which is home of the Nigerian Wrestling Federation (NWF) and stressed the need to speed up its completion.

Dare lauded the president, Board members of the NWF, and the Bayelsa State Government over their foresight and commitment to sports development in Nigeria.

“As a ministry, we will also join hands to ensure that the place will be befitting for wrestlers and athletes.

“Due to the paucity of funds that is why the work is a bit slow for now.

“We have given some funds to the board members, also they can still source for more funds from other areas,” he said.

Dare added that the ministry was working round the clock to ensure adequate preparation of athletes for the forthcoming Olympic in Tokyo.

The minister said the ministry will continue to partner with the NWF to secure sponsorship and support for the wrestlers.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the final game of the Seriake Dickson Restoration Cup pitched Okolobiri versus its Ekeremor counterpart at the renovated Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa.
