An elderly teacher in Borno State, Mrs. Obiageli Mazi, smiled to the bank on Friday after Governor Babagana Zulum visited a school impromptu and found her waiting for her pupils as early as 6:46 am.
The governor was said to be on his early morning project visits in Maiduguri when he met the elderly female teacher in Shehu Sanda Kyarimi 2 Primary School.
In a video shared by Media Aide to Deputy Governor Of Borno, Dogo M Shettima, the governor can be seen engaging in light conversation with the matronly teacher.
Mazi told the governor that she had worked for 31 years as a teacher in Borno, although she hails from Abia State.
Zulum then heads to one of the cars in his convoy and brings out a wad of cash which he presented to the teacher, who knelt in jubilation, for her punctuality and dedication to service.
The elated teacher can be seen praying for the governor’s continued success.
Shettima added in his caption of the video that the governor promised the teacher a job after her retirement.
“Her gender, tribe, religion or state of origin does not surprise him but her passion, enthusiasm, dedication, commitment and above all patriotism do surprised him a lot,” Shettima wrote.
