Friday has been declared a public holiday by the Plateau State government in order to celebrate the day of Forgiveness and Reconciliation.
The Garden of Forgiveness had been inaugurated on February 7, 2019, in Jos, by the state governor, Simon Lalong in order to emphasis the importance of reconciliation in the society.

According to a report by The PUNCH, Prof. Danladi Atu, who is the Secretary to the State Government, said in a statement on Thursday that the government instituted the day to highlight the “importance of forgiveness and reconciliation in the process of peacebuilding in the state.”
