Omo-Agege describes detractors as “sponsored irritants”

2 Min Read

Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege says those behind a failed attempt to disqualify him over alleged conviction in the US are mere “sponsored irritants”.

The Herald recalls that last week,  Justice Othman Musa of the FCT High Court in Bwari, Abuja dismissed a suit challenging the senator’s eligibility over an alleged conviction in the US. A group known as Incorporated Trustees of Patriotic Youth Organisation of Nigeria filed the suit.

The court also awarded N1 million against the plaintiffs for wasting the court’s time.

Speaking to a cross-section of Urhobo leaders in Abuja over the weekend,  Omo-Agege said that he would not allow himself to be distracted by the actions of “faceless” detractors.

He slammed his political foes as being bent on distracting the National Assembly leadership from cooperating with the executive for the betterment of Nigerians.

“I am sure that those who participated did so with cover from others outside the state who really did not know me well.

“If they knew, like the local enemies that I am not easily intimidated, I am very sure they wouldn’t have gone on this fruitless voyage.

“This is not the first time we have been through this; I pray this is the last time. But to the extent they chose not to make it the last time, they also have me to contend with because I don’t suffer fools gladly.

“For those who don’t know, they will get to know in the not too distant future,” Omo-Agege said.
