Rumour: Nokia working on own foldable phone, may launch in 2020

2 Min Read

Samsung, LG and Motorola are all experimenting with foldable phones and rumour has that Nokia may well be working on its own foldable phone and may launch sometime at the end of the year.

The HMD Global owned brand is rumoured to be working on its own foldable device and sources claim the device may be ready by the end of the year or early 2021.

All the major manufacturers of foldable devices are approaching it differently and it will be interesting what approach Nokia will take.

Since HMD took over the Nokia brand, the company has yet to make any move to introduce a new concept design-wise or under-the-hood.

The website from where this report came says the brand may announce as many as four devices at the World Mobile Congress (WMC) 2020 scheduled for Feb. 24 to Feb. 27.

Those are expected to include the Nokia 8.2 5G, which would be the company’s first next-gen internet device, as well as the Nokia 5.2 and Nokia 1.3.

The leak also suggests a device that is part of the “Nokia Original Series”. This is a new term and just by the sound of it suggest we may be seeing a revamping of an older device like the company did with the 3310.

More light will be shown on the subject when the company showcases its products at the WMC in Barcelona at the end of February.
