South-South Leaders Vow Chaos If North Insists On 2023 Presidency

The National Coordinator of South-South Elders Forum, His Highness, Anabs Sara Igbe, has said that any attempt to retain power in the North beyond 2023 could be a recipe for chaos.

He stated this in Abuja on Saturday, stressing that the South-South should be allowed to produce the president after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term.

Sara Igbe, who is also the National Publicity Secretary of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), insisted that since ex-President Goodluck Jonathan only served for one term, the South-South geopolitical zone was still entitled to one presidential term.

He stated that the North might not be comfortable with supporting a South-Easterner for president because of the experience of the Civil War. He noted that since many Igbo people lost their lives in the war, many Igbos were still embittered by memories of the experience.

Igbe maintained that a South-West candidate would also not get the support of the North judging by the reaction of Miyetti Allah to the recently-launched Amotekun security outfit.

He noted that the South-South was thus better placed to produce the president, Vanguard quoted him as saying.
