PDP must apologise to Nigerians over stance on Imo judgement – Keyamo

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo SAN, has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to apologise to Nigerians over its stance on the Imo gubernatorial election judgement.

Recall that the Supreme Court on Tuesday voided the election of PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha and declared the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidate, Sen. Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the March 9, 2019 polls.

Reacting, the PDP said that the judgement of the apex court was flawed, querying how a man that came fourth in an election suddenly emerged the winner.

But Keyamo, who spoke with reporters on Wednesday in Ughelli, Delta State, described the PDP as an “unserious opposition”.

He further described the party’s stance as “extremely provocative”.

The senior lawyer said it was curious for the PDP to have accepted favourable Supreme Court judgements in Rivers and Zamfara states while rejecting an unfavourable one in Imo.

Keyamo said, “PDP is an opposition that takes the benefit from the system; from a particular institution and they don’t want to take the downs from that same institution.

“The same court that gave them victories and excluded us entirely in Rivers State, excluded us entirely in Zamfara State; is that the same kangaroo court?

“How can democrats come out and make such very inciting statement? I think it is an irresponsible statement.

“It doesn’t even deserve a response and they need to apologise to Nigerians and to the Supreme Court; it’s extremely provocative.”
