The State’s Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako in a statement on Wednesday, appealed to saw millers, residents and the Oloto family to exercise patience.
Salako urged the stakeholders to allow peace reign in the community, saying that the government would continue to interact with them toward finding a lasting solution while the relocation process was on-going.
He explained that the state government would not compromise infrastructure delivery standards while seeking fast solutions.
This, according to Salako, will ensure quality infrastructure that would not only ease business at the Agbowa Timbervilla but also address the challenges faced by stakeholders at Okobaba.
“The relocation of the sawmill has become necessary to address the environmental challenges,’’ he said in the statement signed by Mr. Sanusi Mukaila spokesman of the ministry.
The commissioner said that the environmental challenges were caused by the existence of the market and stressed the need for an organized setting in line with the state government’s smart and resilient city agenda.
He said that the ministry was already streamlining the roles of contractors and agencies involved in the project to ensure commencement of relocation by the first quarter of 2020 as promised.
