5 ritualists arrested after attempt to kill 10-year-old boy failed

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC ) has arrested five suspected ritualists in Jalingo, Taraba state.

The Herald gathered that the NSCDC nabbed the five young men while trying to kill a 10-year-old boy in the bush near Kona village.

The spokesperson of the NSCDC in Taraba state command, Godwin Peter, who confirmed the incident said: “When we got the security information that some young men suspected to have been carrying out ritual activities in Kona village were caught with a ten years old boy, our men moves swiftly to the village and arrested the situation.

“We went there and the villagers insisted that the five boys have been carrying out ritual killings and were dealing with human parts, the villagers urged the security to scrutinize the five boys.”

Earlier, The Herald reported that men of the Nigerian Police Force arrested notorious ritualists who were found in possession of a fresh human head.

The men of the IGPP Special Tactical Squad made the arrest on Saturday, August, 26, 2017, at about 9pm, in Niger State.

The ritualists were arrested in possession of a fresh human head of one person identified to be Hassan Abubakar of Bakajeba Paiko L.G.A.

The nabbed suspects, Abdulrasheed Aminu, 22, of Lupa and Ismaila Mohammed, 27, of Makera, however confessed to the crime adding that they cut off the victim’s head using two sharpened knives.

The third member of the group identified as Ibrahim, is still on the run. The victim’s father, Abubakar Shuaib, revealed that his son was last seen on Saturday when he took a kettle of water from the house to give to an unknown person who was waiting outside.

The father noted that since their son stepped out, they had not seen him until he was confirmed dead.

It was reported that five persons accused of being in possession of human parts were on Tuesday granted  bail of  N200,000 each at an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court.

The accused persons are Olarenwaju Adewoye,  Oluwasegun Raphael,  Oluwasegun Joseph,  Fatoyinbo Augustine and Kunle Ajamu, all residents of  Idofin Aiyekale in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara.

Chief Magistrate Bio Salihu, who presided over the matter, adjourned the case till July 3  for further mention.

The prosecutor, Insp  Isaac Yakub, said that the accused persons trespassed into a burial ground belonging to Oke-Ero Community and exhumed human skulls and bones.
